Karen F. Rose is a contemporary tonalist landscape painter living and working on the historic North Florida coast in Ponte Vedra Beach. Having also lived in Michigan and Connecticut, shorelines have always been a part of her life.
Influenced by tonalist painters of the early 20th century with their love of dawn and twilight hours she is inspired by the sea and shore. For her, painting is all about the light, the atmosphere, the mystery, and the mood. She aims to create peace and meditative energy in her paintings. Her hope to create an emotional connection to a memory...an unspoken connection that is shared.
Her award-winning paintings are in public and private collections across the United States.

"We first found Karen‘s work in a local gallery where her paintings stood head and shoulders above the rest. Most were small landscapes in gilded frames. We were captivated by the ethereal dream-like scenes where details merged into impression rather than a picture. We bought the one we loved and thought of taking others to create an art wall. Instead we asked if she would commission a work just for us.
What evolved was a totally collaborative search for a large painting that would become much more than an interesting accent to our décor. Karen worked with us over many fun meetings to find the essential feel of the painting as well as the scene itself. We started with several ideas that she rendered onto small canvases which then evolved into two or three that push forward into the final work. Lastly, she helped with the placement and the selection of the perfect frame.
What we have now is a work of art that creates the initial invitation to our home. It does not dictate or demand attention, but softly invites the feeling of peace and tranquility that we hope for."
