This painting was inspired by a view of the Intercoastal Waterway here in north Florida. I travel past this spot and love to look down on this sliver of water and imagine I am about to set sail on a great adventure.
For me the mystery is more a sense of going back in time. There is so much of "old Florida" in this part of the state.
Unspoiled tracks of land hold a fascination for many. The Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve off A1A just south of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL is one place you'll want to visit.
The solitude, the diversity of wildlife and the statue of Ponce de Leon at 6 mile landing gives a historical perspective to your visit.  Hike the trails, paddle Lake Guana, fish or bird watch, walk along the beach looking for fossilized shark teeth.
When you visit time slips away. You become suspended "between then and now".
I'd love to hear your story if you have visited this area.

while nature is my source, painting softly leads me to look for the poetic element what is not seen but in reality what is felt.
